Midtown Medical Clinic Is Now MMC Wellness: What Richmond Patients Should Know
If you've been a patient at Midtown Medical Clinic in Richmond, you may have noticed our new name: MMC Wellness Group. We want to explain plainly what this means for you, because the short answer is — very little has changed about how you get care, and a fair amount has grown around it.
Same Location
We are still at #130 — 8780 Blundell Road in Richmond, BC. There's no need to re-register, transfer records, or do anything administrative because of the name change itself.
Our team continues to see patients in Mandarin, Cantonese, and English, which has always been part of how we try to make care accessible for Richmond's diverse community.
Why the Name Changed
"Midtown Medical Clinic" described a neighbourhood walk-in and family practice. Over time, we've built out services that go beyond that scope — preventive health exams, imaging, longevity-focused assessments, and support for immigration medical exams, among others. The name MMC Wellness Group reflects that we're now a fuller medical home: family medicine remains the core, with specialist referrals and health examination services layered around it, rather than a separate clinic for each need.
This is an evolution, not a reinvention. We're not asking long-time patients to think of us differently — just to know that more is available here than there used to be, under one roof and one chart.
What's Available Now
Alongside ongoing family medicine care, patients (and new clients) can access:
- Specialist referrals for internal medicine, gynecology, and other needs, coordinated through your family doctor where appropriate
- Self-pay health examinations, from focused checks to more comprehensive executive and comprehensive packages, including genetic testing, private imaging, spirometry, and skin checks
- Longevity-oriented services, including biological-age assessments and a longevity club for patients who want more structured, ongoing health tracking
- Pain management support
- Immigration and visitor medical exams, including IRCC panel physician services
Not every service requires a referral or is covered by MSP — our front desk can confirm what applies to your situation when you book.
If You Want More Coordinated Care
Some patients want more than periodic visits — they want a point person who tracks results over time, helps schedule the right follow-ups, and coordinates between family medicine and any specialist or imaging work. That's the idea behind our health management membership: it sits on top of your regular MSP-covered care and adds coordination and value-added services, rather than replacing your family doctor relationship. It's optional, and plenty of patients continue to see us the way they always have, booking as needed.
How to Book Under the New Name
Booking is by phone at 604-629-8968, and walk-in patients are welcome at our Richmond clinic.
If you don't currently have a family doctor anywhere in BC, it's also worth registering with the provincial Health Connect Registry through HealthLink BC — either online or by calling 8-1-1 — which is the official way the province matches unattached patients with available family physicians across BC, not just at any single clinic.
A Few Practical Notes
- Your medical records and history carry forward exactly as before; nothing is lost or needs transferring internally
- Any referrals, prescriptions, or ongoing follow-ups already in progress are unaffected by the rebrand
