Spirometry Pulmonary Function Test

Spirometry curve
Indications

Asthma, COPD, occupational, fitness-to-work.

Spirometry measures forced vital capacity (FVC), forced expiratory volume in 1 second (FEV1), and the FEV1/FVC ratio. We test for occupational health programs (firefighters, construction, healthcare workers exposed to respirators), asthma diagnosis and control, COPD baseline and monitoring, and pre-operative pulmonary clearance.

Procedure sequence
Procedure

10 minutes · three forced exhalations.

After a brief screening interview, you exhale forcefully into a calibrated spirometer three times. We compare the best curve against age-, sex-, and height-adjusted predicted values. Bronchodilator testing (pre/post salbutamol) adds another 15 minutes. Reports are reviewed by a respirologist when indicated.
